A South African man held for arms smuggling.
A South African businessman was judged in a Zimbabwean court because he attempted to smuggle three rifles and 108 rounds of ammunitions in South Africa. Douglas McCallum of Big 5 Fly Fishing, a tour company based in Johannesburg was arrested last Friday at the Harare International Airport, in Zimbabwe.
Thanks to a detection machine the police found the firearms and ammunitions for which he had no licence packed in his luggage.
The 40 year old man had to pay 1,000 dollars on Wednesday and was ordered by a Harare magistrate to present himself three times a week to the police, He still remains in custody on a separate immigration warrant.
According to McCallum, he didn't have any weapon during the flight to South Africa, and he discovered during the police search that he transported the weapons unaware.
