They missed their sabbatical…
On Friday, March 20th, three young English students died during a car crash near Cape Town. Nick Thompson (19 years old), Oli Mobsby (18 years old) and Ed Lowton (18 years old) were coming back from a Safari expedition when they crashed. "It was a gap year trip in South Africa before going to university" relatives said.
They planned to go to South Africa first, and then to Thailand, to Australia, to New Zealand and at least to the west coast of America. They planned to come back to England in June, to put photos on Facebook, taking it and getting on with the inhabitants.
A memorial service was held in Cape Town for the three teenagers last weekend. Funerals will take place at the end of the month.
Mobsby (who had two brothers), had been accepted at the York University. Thompson had a place at Newcastle, for business studies. Both of them were playing rugby for clubs and came were coming from the same school: Stalbridge.
Mobsby's father told us: "They were enjoying themselves. It's just wrong place, wrong time. They never had any disappointments in life. They were having a fantastic time."

Ils ont raté leur année sabbatique...
Vendredi 20 Mars, trois jeunes étudiants anglais sont morts d’un accident de voiture aux alentours de Cape Town. Nick Thompson (19 ans), Oli Mobsby (18 ans) et Ed Lowton (18 ans) revenaient d'une expédition Safari lorsqu’ils se sont crashés. "C'était une année sabbatique en Afrique du Sud, avant d’entrer à l'université." nous ont rapporté les proches.
Ils avaient d’abord prévu de se rendre en Afrique du Sud, et ensuite en Thaïlande, en Australie, en Nouvelle Zélande et enfin sur la côte ouest de l'Amérique. Ils avaient prévu de rentrer en Angleterre en Juin, afin de mettre leurs photos sur Facebook après les avoir prises et avoir fait connaissance avec les habitants.
Une cérémonie à la mémoire de ces trois adolescents s’est déroulée à Cape Town le weekend dernier. Les funérailles se tiendront à la fin du mois.
Mobsby (qui avait deux frères), avait été acceptée à l'université de York. Thompson, lui, avait une place à Newcastle en études de commerce. Tous les deux jouaient du rugby pour des clubs et venaient du même établissement : Stalbridge.
Le père de Mobsby nous a dit : " Ils s’amusaient. Ils se sont trouvés au mauvais endroit au mauvais moment. Ils n’avaient jamais eu de déception dans leur vie. Ils étaient en train de passer un moment fantastique. "
