Madiba, the peaceful revolutionary is dead

Nelson Mandela, hero of the anti-apartheid, died at 93 in Johannesburg, South African President Jacob Zuma announced.
The flags will stay at half-mast until Mandela's funeral on December 15 in Qunu.

A national memorial ceremony will take place at the Soweto stadium. Many political leaders will pay tribute to anti-apartheid hero, such as David Cameron, «He did not see himself as the helpless victim of history - he wrote it», «Mandela was a towering figure in our lifetime», or even François Hollande, calling him an «exceptional resistance fighter», deploring the death of an «outstanding fighter».
Mandela, who celebrated his 95th birthday on July 18, was sent to hospital several times because of lung infections, perhaps due to after-effects of the tuberculosis he caught during his stay in the Robben Island prison, where he spent 18 out of 27 years of detention for struggling against the apartheid.
Considered an international icon of reconciliation, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993.

Opinion:  This article is about the death of Nelson Mandela. I was very shocked when I heard the news, and so was everyone. A historical figure, he inspired many politicians and changed people's lives forever. South Africans have lost a father, who built hope and peace.

Nelson Mandela, héros de la lutte anti-apartheid, est mort à l’âge de 95 ans à Johannesburg, a annoncé jeudi soir le président sud-africain Jacob Zuma.
Les drapeaux mis en berne vendredi le seront jusqu'aux obsèques de Mandela qui auront lieu le 15 décembre à Qunu.

Le 10 décembre, une cérémonie nationale d'hommage aura lieu au stade de Soweto.
Les dirigeants du monde entier se sont exprimés sur la disparition du héros de la lutte anti-apartheid, tels que David Cameron, «Il ne se voyait pas comme l'impuissante victime de l'histoire - il l'a écrite», «Nelson Mandela était un héros de notre temps» ou encore François Hollande, qui l’a qualifié de «résistant exceptionnel», regrettant la mort d' «un combattant magnifique».
Mandela, qui avait fêté ses 95 ans le 18 juillet, avait été hospitalisé plusieurs fois à cause d’infections pulmonaires. Ces problèmes de santé étaient possiblement liés aux séquelles d’une tuberculose contractée pendant son séjour à la prison de Robben Island, où il avait passé dix-huit de ses vingt-sept années de détention pour avoir lutté contre l’apartheid.
Qualifié d’icône mondiale de la réconciliation, il eu le prix Nobel de la Paix en 1993.

Opinion:  J'ai été bouleversée par cette nouvelle, comme tout le monde. Il a été une source d’inspiration pour de nombreux hommes politiques. C’est une figure historique qui a changé la vie de millions d’hommes et de femmes à  tout jamais. Les Sud-africains ont perdu un père qui avait passé sa vie à bâtir l'espoir et la paix.

Man shoots youth for playing music too loud

Dave Ridgeway a retired 66-year-old was taken into police custody for shooting three people this Sunday.
He killed his neighbour's son, Peter Robertson (19), by shooting him in the head - after hiding in his garden - and wounded two of his friends, for playing music too loud.
Right after, Ridgeway attempted to escape but fell into the pool; he then failed to shoot himself in the head.
According to the report, a suicide note was found on his laptop.

Dave Ridgeway, un retraité de 66 ans, a été placé en garde à vue pour avoir tiré sur 3 personnes dimanche.
Il a tué le fils de son voisin, Peter Robertson (19 ans), en lui tirant dans la tête, après s’être caché dans son jardin et a blessé deux de ses amis parce qu’il jugeait leur musique trop bruyante.
Tout de suite après, Ridgeway est tombé dans la piscine en essayant de s'échapper et a tenté de se tirer une balle dans la tête.
D'après la police, un message expliquant son suicide a été trouvé dans son ordinateur.

Banned for killing a lion

At the beginning of month, the American presenter Melissa Bachman raised controversy once more after posting on her Twitter account a photo of herself with a radiant face and a big smile from ear to ear next to a lion that she had killed in South Africa .

This picture which is only the last one of a long series literally made the news and negative reactions about the host of the Winchester Deadly Passion show were quick. Elan Burman , a Cape Town resident started a petition on change.org to deny the ''Lion-Killer''  access to the country. ''Melissa Bachman is a contradiction to the culture of preservation the country prides on'' the scandalized woman said.
It is all the more striking as this petition, which has already collected about a half-million signatures, is not the first one. No sooner than last year 13,000 persons asked the National Geographic channel to sack ''the animal serial-killer'' from Ultimate Survivor Alaska – which they obtained  a few days later.

In addition to Elan Burman's petition, another virtual started to get her TV channel  to fire her and a Facebook page called ''STOP MELISSA BACHMAN'' to force her to stop posting pictures of her “crimes” on social networks.
Consequently, the world seems to agree with South African public opinion even if no official decision has yet been taken by the authorities.

Un lion qui fait rugir

Au début du mois, la présentatrice de télé américaine Melissa Bachman a une fois de plus créé la polémique en publiant sur son compte Twitter une photo d'elle, le visage radieux et un grand sourire jusqu'aux oreilles, à côté d'un lion qu'elle venait juste de tuer en Afrique du Sud.

Cette photo, qui n'est que la dernière d'une longue série a littéralement défrayé la chronique et les réactions négatives à propos de l'animatrice de l'émission Winchester Deadly Passion n'ont pas tardé. Elan Burman, une habitante du Cap, a lancé une pétition sur change.org afin d’interdire a la ''tueuse de Lion'' l'accès au pays. « Melissa Bachman est en contradiction totale avec la culture de préservation de la nature dont le pays s’enorgueillit. » a-t-elle déclaré scandalisée.
La pétition, qui a déjà regroupé plus d'un demi-million de signatures n'est pourtant pas la première car déjà l'année dernière, 13.000 personnes ont demandé à la chaine National Geographic de renvoyer celle qu'on appelle « La Tueuse en Série d'animaux » de l'émission Ultimate Survivor Alaska (ce qu’ils ont obtenu quelques jours plus tard). En ce qui concerne le meurtre du lion, en plus de la pétition d'Elan Burman, une autre pétition a vu le jour sur internet pour demander à sa chaine actuelle de la renvoyer et une page Facebook nommée ''STOP MELISSA BACHMAN'' mène une campagne pour  empêcher la chasseuse de poster les photos de ses crimes sur les réseaux sociaux.
Le monde entier semble par conséquent du même avis que les Sud- Africains même si aucune décision n'a encore été officiellement prise par le gouvernement.

  In all impartiality, I can say she's a very attentive and generous person, and she is very concerned by others with admirable patience to the point of being sometimes unsetlling but as a friend, I can assure you that it's not unpleasant.

  At first contact, she can look shy and introverted but she isn't afraid  to speak up to defend what she has to say.. It's quite impressive to see how someone so calm can suddenly assert her views with such conviction (I've always said that there should be an Hawain Volcano sleeping somewhere inside her)

   Unlike me, she'is very tactful and sweet and, surpising as it may seem, she's surely at 8a.m.the less bad-tempered  person I have ever known..

    Of course, like all the girls her age , she likes to take on her peers, and it's foolish because she feels so guilty after that she hurries to find a positive thing to say ...

  Sometimes, it's true that it's a bit disturbing when she takes 5 minutes to find words not to hurt your feelings and she talks very quickly when she has a really embarrassing thing to tell, but hey, it takes all kinds of people to make a world go round , doesn’t it?

    A perfect mixt between self-confidence and discretion, I really try to find a big and shameful defect about her  but I've quickly given up because I think that believing there is a dark side to her is like believing in werewolves and I stopped to believe in these legends a long time ago !

               And that is a faithful portrait of my friend, Beatrice .
