Winnie Mandela - her real name NomZamo Winifred Zanyiwe Madikizela - died on Monday 2 April, 2018, at about 2:00 p.m. at the age of 81 in a Johannesburg hospital after a long struggle with her illness. She did 5 years after her former husband Nelson Mandela, with whom she was married from 1956 to 1996.
She fought against the racism of White Power in South Africa and was a true icon of this fight. First a social worker, she became a figure of the ANC and then Vice-Minister of Culture.

Winnie Mandela, de son vrai nom Nomzamo Winifred Zanyiwe Madikizela, s'est éteinte ce lundi 2 Avril 2018 vers 14 heure à l'âge de 81 ans dans un hôpital de Johannesburg suite à un long combat contre la maladie. Elle décède donc 5 ans après la mort de son ancien époux, Nelson Mandela avec qui elle fut mariée de 1956 à 1996.
Cette femme a longtemps combattu le racisme du pouvoir blanc en Afrique du Sud et était une véritable icône de ce combat. D'abord assistance sociale, elle deviendra une figure de l'ANC puis vice-ministre de la culture.
