One month
ago, a south African student named Uyinene Mrwetyana was
raped and killed in a post office by post office employee. The 43-years-old
killer has been arrested.
On September
26 Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex and the wife of Prince Harry’s wife
came to South Africa and paid her condolences to the mother of the girl.
Megan, Harry
and their last son Archie were on a 10-day visit to southern
Africa.
Saturday, Harry visit Angola to meet the
president of Angola Joao Lourenco. Meghan came to South Africa to meet the
women affected by the violence and to understand the current situation in South
Africa. Last week, she also visited women and children's centre in South
Africa's Nyanga township, she said that she stood by them "as a woman of
colour and as your sister". The duchess of Sussex tied a ribbon at a
memorial to the victim of the rape. The ribbon read: "We stand together in
this moment. Harry and Meghan, September 26, 2019".
Since the death
of the young girl many protests against gender-based violence have been staged.
Last year,
approximately 2,700 women and 1,000 children were murdered by men and over 100
rapes are reported daily.

invités royaux pour une tragédie
Il y a un mois, une étudiante d’Afrique du Sud du
nom de Uyinene Mrwetyana a été violé et tué dans une poste par un agent de la
poste. Le tueur de 43 ans a été arrêté. Le 26 Septembre, Meghan Markle, la
duchesse de Sussex et la femme du prince Harry d’Angleterre c’est rendu en
Afrique du Sud pour présenter ses condoléances à la mère de l’étudiante. Meghan,
Harry et leur dernier enfant Archie son en ce moment même en tour dans l’Afrique
Australe pour 10 jours. Ce samedi, Harry était en rencontre avec le président
Angolais Joao Lourenco. Meghan, quant a elle est venue en Afrique du Sud pour rencontrer
les femmes victimes de violences et pour comprendre la situation en Afrique du
Sud. La semaine dernière elle a par exemple visité le centre pour femmes et
enfants situé dans la ville de Nyanga. Elle a échangé avec elles
et a notamment dit qu’elle les soutenait avec cette phrase « as
a woman of colour and as your sister ». La duchesse de Sussex a noué un
ruban devant le mémorial de la jeune étudiante. Sur le ruban, nous pouvons lire: "We stand
together in this moment. Harry and Meghan, September 26,
2019". Depuis la mort de la jeune étudiante, de nombreuses manifestations contre
les violences sexistes sont en cours. L’année dernière, environ 2700 femmes et
1000 enfants ont été tués par des hommes et chaque jour environ 100 viols sont
rapportés.
