Mathieu Dasnois, 29 and fisherman was on a coastal sight-seeing tour,
near Port St. Johns. One moment, he asked to go in the water to test out his
new mask. But it wasn’t the right time …
The man was swimming in the shallow water, not far away from the boat
when he saw the dorsal fin of a shark heading towards him.
"It was bloody huge, I didn't see the first attack, it gripped my
leg, took it in its mouth and swam. I poked it in the eye with my left
thumb." said Mr Dasnois.
The shark attacked him three times in total before he was pulled on the
boat, which took him to the shores where an ambulance was waiting for him.
Mr Dasnois wrote on his Facebook page: "I am a shark attack
survivor. I squared up with a 4m great white. Not my most successful fight, but
I'm essentially fine. Will regain full use of my entire body.”
Despite the attack, the fisherman has said that he would like to swim
again.

The Port St Johns beach is one of the most dangerous beaches in the
world, with five fatal shark attacks in four years. Shark attacks are still too
present and unfortunately in most cases they are fatal ... Prevention and
prohibitions to surf must be absolutely respected to avoid these recurring
tragedies.

pêcheur effectuait un tour en bateau au large des côtes africaines,
près de Port St. Johns, quand il décida de plonger pour tester son nouveau
masque. Ce n’était pas le bon moment visiblement...
Il nageait dans l'eau
peu profonde, non loin du bateau quand il a vu la nageoire dorsale d'un requin
qui se dirigeait vers lui.
"C’était incroyable,
je n’ai pas vu la première attaque, il a saisi ma jambe dans sa gueule.
Je lui ai donné un coup dans l'œil avec mon pouce gauche." a déclaré M.
Dasnois.
Le requin a attaqué au
total trois fois Mr Dasnois avant que celui-ci ne soit hissé sur le bateau, puis ramené à terre où une ambulance
l'attendait.

Dasnois a écrit: « Je suis un survivant d’une attaque de requin, j’ai été
aux prises avec un grand requin blanc de 4 mètres. Ça n’a
peut-être pas été très glorieux, mais dans l’ensemble je vais à peu près bien. Je
vais retrouver l’usage de tous mes membres… » Malgré cette attaque, le
pêcheur a dit qu'il aimerait nager à nouveau.

La plage de Port St Johns
est une des plages les plus dangereuses au monde, avec cinq attaques mortelles
de requins en quatre ans. Les attaques de requins sont encore trop courantes et, malheureusement, dans la plupart des cas, elles sont mortelles ...
La prévention et l'interdiction de surfer doivent tre absolument
respectées pour éviter ces drames à répétition …
