Le gagnant de "Idols Afrique du sud" : la nouvelle star de 2012.

  Le 2 octobre 2012, Khaya Mthethwa a remporté la 8ème saison de "Idols Sud Africa". Cette émission télévisée est l'adaptation du programme britannique "Pop Idols", dont le premier épisode a été diffusé le 5 octobre 2001. Ce programme est diffusé en France, sur la chaine de télévision W9, sous le titre de Nouvelle Star. Il existe également cette émission aux Etats- Unis, connue sous le nom de " American Idols".

  L'émission a été créée par Simon Fuller, un producteur de télévision anglais. C'est une version moderne de télé-crochet, un concours où le public peut voter pour la personne qu'il préfère parmi des chanteurs encore inconnus. Le gagnant est choisi par un vote sms. Ce concept a été développé avec succès dans de nombreux pays. La version sud-africaine d’Idols a fait son apparition en 2002 sur M-Net, une chaîne satellite privée réservée aux abonnés de DStv.

  Depuis que "Idols South Africa" existe, jamais un artiste noir n’avait gagné le fameux concours. Depuis le 2 octobre, c'est chose faite : Khaya Mthethwa, jeune homme de 25 ans, a été élu «nouvelle star» du pays. Il a interprété la chanson Super Bass de Nicky Minaj qu’il avait entendue pour la première fois le jour même.

  Khaya Mthethwa est un musicien professionnel âgé de 25 ans. Il joue de la batterie depuis ses 10 ans.

 En Afrique du sud, 80% de la population est noire. Cependant, la chaîne de télévision diffusant "Idols South Africa" étant payante, le programme est principalement regardé par la classe moyenne, majoritairement blanche. Ainsi, les téléspectateurs principalement blancs ont apparemment toujours tendance à voter selon des critères raciaux. Certains métis avaient tout de même pu remporter le jeu télévisé auparavant. Toutefois, ces derniers sont souvent considérés différemment des noirs sud-africains.

  Cette victoire constitue donc une petite révolution en Afrique du Sud.

Since "Idols South Africa" existed, no black artist had ever won the famous competition. Since October the 2nd, it is now done: Khaya Mthethwa, a young man of 25 years old, has been elected "pop idol" of the country.
